Reaction of compound 4 with acetic anhydride followed by potassium permanganate oxidation of the intermediate 5 gave the desired compound 1. 2) Reaction of thiourea with 2–chloro–5-(l-methyl-5-nitro-2-imidazolyl) 1,3, 4 – thiadiazole (7) gave the thiol 8. Reaction of the latter with methyl iodide in alkaline medium followed by potassium permanganate oxidation afforded also compound 1.
