New Records of the Hotson's Jerboa Allactaga hotsoni, Thomas, 1920 (Rodentia: Dipodidae) from
Khorasan and Yazd Provinces, Iran
A total of five specimens of Allactaga hotsoni were captured in Khorasan and Yazd provinces, Iran, in summer 2004 and 2005. The specimens are similar to those described previously from Baluchistan of Iran and Afghanistan. For the first time a karyological study was carried out to make a comparison with the other species. On the basis of karyological study there is not any significant difference in chromosome number from other species of Allactaga (2n=48, NFa=92). Previously this species was reported from Baluchistan and National Kavir Park near Siah-Kuhe. In this study A. hotsoni is reported for the first time from the study areas.

Biotransformation of Hydrocortisone
by Neurospora crassa
The ability of Neurospora crassa FGSC 4335 in the biotransformation of hydrocortisone was investigated. The microorganism produced two major metabolites after incubation with the substrate for seven days. Each microbial product was purified chromatographically and identified on the basis of spectral data. The products were identified as 11?,17?,20?,21-tetrahydroxypregn-4-en-3-one (II) and 11?-hydroxyandrost-4-en-3,17-dione (III) in the yields of 25% and 18.8%, respectively. Time course study showed the accumulation of both products from the second day of the fermentation and reached to the maximum in the seventh day. Optimum concentration of the substrate, which gave maximum bioconversion efficiency, was 1 mg ml?1 in one batch. Biotransformation was completely inhibited in a concentration above 2.5 mg ml?1.

The Effect of Some Environmental Factors on the Survival Characteristics of Flexibacter chinensis
To survive in natural waters, bacteria must respond to variety of environmental factors. Flexibacter survival in the aquatic environment is influenced by number of parameters, such as temperature, heavy metal concentration and oxidation. Here we investigate the influence of these factors on the survival of Flexibacter chinensis in starvation medium. Our data shows that different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide decrease the survival time of bacteria while they have no influence on total count. Also, the investigation about the effect of heat shock on this bacterium demonstrates that the increasing of temperature leads to viability decrease. At least, the examination of the effect of heavy metal ions on the survival of F. chinensis shows that Zinc had less inhibitor activity on the cell viability in comparison to Cadmium and Copper.

Synthesis of Some New Heterocyclic Compounds
with Potential Biological Activity
A series of new 2-arylimino-3-aryl-5-[5?-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2?-furylidene]-4-thiazolidinones (3a-l) have been synthesised by the condensation of 5-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-furaldehyde 1 with 2-arylimino-3-aryl-5H-4-thiazolidinones 2 in glacial acetic acid. The physical and spectral data of the synthesised compounds are determined. The synthesised compounds have been screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against various strains of bacteria and fungi.

Epithermal Gold and Base Metal Mineralization at Gandy Deposit, North of Central Iran and
the Role of Rhyolitic Intrusions
The Gandy gold-base metal deposit is located in Tertiary Torud-Chahshirin volcano-plutonic range, north of Central Iran. Various styles of gold mineralization occur throughout the range. Mineralization at Gandy occurs in close spatial relation with rhyolitic domes in a caldera setting in a series of narrow brecciated veins. Two mineralogically and spatially different argillic alterations have affected the volcano-sedimentary host unit. The first is a pervasive advanced argillic alteration (kaolinite + quartz) and the other is a vein-controlled quartz with illite assemblage. Ore minerals comprise gold, silver, base metal sulfides and sulfosalt minerals are accompanied by carbonates, quartz and barite. Fluid inclusions in coarse-grained sphalerite have homogenization temperatures ranging from 139 to 345 °C and salinities from 7.9 to 16 wt% NaCl equiv. Data suggest that the main ore deposition mechanism is the mixing of a 300 °C magmatic fluid. Mineralization at Gandy is the product of ascending gas and saline fluid exsolved from crystallizing magma, possibly due to transition from plastic into brittle regime resulting from emplacement of the rhyolitic intrusion, consequent condensation in ground water and mixing. Characteristics of the Gandy deposit are similar to those of gold and base metal-rich epithermal deposits of intermediate-sulfidation state.

On The Mean Convergence of Biharmonic Functions
Let denote the unit circle in the complex plane. Given a function , one uses t usual (harmonic) Poisson kernel for the unit disk to define the Poisson integral of , namely . Here we consider the biharmonic Poisson kernel for the unit disk to define the notion of -integral of a given function ; this associated biharmonic function will be denoted by . We then consider the dilations for and . The main result of this paper indicates that the dilations are convergent to in the mean, or in the norm of .

On Condition (E?P)
In this paper we introduce condition (E?P) a generalization of Conditions (E?), (E) and (P) of acts over monoids and will give a classification of monoids by comparing this condition of their (Rees factor) acts with other properties. We give also a criterion of cyclic acts to satisfy Condition (E?P).

Spontaneous Emission Spectrum from a Driven Three-Level Atom in a Double-Band Photonic Crystal
Abstract
The spontaneous emission spectrum from a driven three-level atom placed inside a double-band photonic crystal has been investigated. We use the model which assumes the upper levels of the atomic transition are coupled via a classical driving field. The transition from one of the upper levels to lower level couples to the modes of the modified reservoir, and the transition from the other upper level to lower level interactwith the free vacuum modes. The effect of classical driving field on the spontaneous emission spectrum of this latter transition is investigated in detail. Most interestingly it is shown that only in the presence of the classical driving field; there is a black dark line in the spontaneous emission spectrum of free-space transition when the modified reservoir is of the photonic band gap type. This dark line is not seen in the case where the modified reservoir is of the free space type for relatively weak driving field.
