										<title>PURIFICATION AND PROPERTIES OF AN
EXTRACELLULAR PROTEASE PRODUCED BY
PENICIUIUM EXPANSUM</title>
									</titles>
									<abstract>Penicilliurn expamum grown in a medium with rice husk as a carbon source
produced an extracellular protease. The protease enzyme was isolated from culture
broth by fractionation with acetone and column chromatography on Sephadex G- 100
and DEAE A-50. The protease enzyme was purified about 17.47 fold, with a recovery
of 14%. The purified protease was homogenous on SDS polyacrylarnide disc gel
electrophoresis and molecular weight was calculated to be 28000. The optimum
activity of protease was found at pH 7.5 and temperature 30°C. The enzyme activity
was enhanced on addition of Ca , Zn , Co  and Mn  whereas inhibition was
observed in the presence of EDTA, Hg  and Ag . Addition of cysteine and 2-
mercaptoethanol did not produce any significant effect on protease activity</abstract>

ARMILLARIA MELLEA (VAML. EX. FR.) KARST</title>
									</titles>
									<abstract>Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity varied in differentiation from hyphae to
rhizomorph and croute in A. mellea. In undifferentiated hyphae there was not
any PPO activity, while croute showed the highest activity. Electrophoresis in
the presence of SDS allows the detection of intensive enzyme forms of PPO,
and can also convert slower migrating enzyme forms to faster ones. Some
fluorescent compounds, as intense activators of PPO, show an intense band of
PPO in electrophoresis but not in the migrating band</abstract>

										<title>INTERACTION OF DOXORUBICIN WITH
DNA-HMG1 COMPLEX</title>
									</titles>
									<abstract>In this study, the interaction of the anthracycline antibiotic doxorubicin
with DNA-HMG 1 complex was investigated employing UV/VIS spectroscopy,
thermal denaturation and DNA cellulose chromatography techniques. The
results indicated that the binding of doxorubicin to the protein reduces its Tm
in a dose dependent manner. Although doxorubicin protects free DNA
against thermal denaturation in the presence of HMG 1, thermal melts represent
biphasic profile corresponding to DNA- drug, HMG1- drug and free
components. Interaction of antibiotic with DNA - HMGl complex using
DNA cellulose columns also implies that the drug binds strongly to singlestranded
DNA-HMG 1 complex rather than to double- stranded DNA-HMG 1
columns. The results suggest destabilization of HMGl protein by drug action
thereby preventing DNA-HMG 1 complex formation</abstract>

									<abstract>We have recently synthesized [Ni (MAP)  ]  complex [H-MAP= 2- (methylamino)
pyridine]. 2- (Methy1amino)pyridine reacts with MeLi in THF and generates the
lithium salt (Li-MAP). Further reaction of NiCl  with two equivalent of this ligand in
THF leads to the formation of a dark red solution. Analytical data, molecular weight,
and magnetic susceptibility of this complex confirm the formula [Ni (MAP) ] .</abstract>

										<title>HELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN
PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c</title>
									</titles>
									<abstract>In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time
reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation
parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton
elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to
unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are
determined. Planar amplitudes are found in terms of the helicity amplitudes and
the angle between momentum vector and quantization direction in the reaction
plane.</abstract>
